Elysian Heights

Welcome to Elysian Heights

Problem

Elysian Heights demanded flawless sync across projectors, sound, and lighting. Even slight delays broke immersion. Traditional tools couldn’t deliver the precision or control we needed.

Solution

I built a custom TouchDesigner cue system to sync all AV elements in real time. It delivered zero-latency playback, a central control hub, and an easy-to-use UI—powering a smooth, immersive experience from start to finish.

My Role

TouchDesigner Cue System: Built a real-time cue system syncing media, sound, and lighting for a seamless immersive flow.

Main Space Activation: Led final setup and testing, ensuring a polished, high-impact experience.

Collaboration & Troubleshooting: Solved technical issues fast, working tightly with the core team for smooth execution.

Project Timeline

Touchdesigner

I built a node-based cue system in TouchDesigner to sync lights, media, and sound across multiple channels and machines—delivering a tight, immersive experience for Elysian Heights.

What I Built:

  1. Reset Function: One key resets local systems instantly.

  2. Project Hub: Core logic and control in a single node.

  3. Output Module: Cleans the UI for a distraction-free display.

  4. 4×8K Projector Sync: Zero-latency, glitch-free visuals.

  5. UI Module: Simple backend interface for AV techs to run the show with ease.

Playtest 1 & 2

Playtest 1: We dove into the full experience, stress-testing every detail. The feedback revealed key gaps and wins that shaped our next move.

Playtest 2: We refined based on feedback, fixed what didn’t land, and tightened the flow—bringing us one step closer to a smooth final release.

Challenges

  1. Team Alignment: I kept the vision tight across a 30-person crew through clear comms, quick pivots, and strong collaboration.

  2. Learning on the Fly: I picked up new software fast—under pressure—and used it to level up our experience.

  3. Big Build, Big Stakes: Scaling for public release meant planning every detail, executing clean, and leaving no room for errors.

  4. Stakeholder Balance: I juggled feedback, needs, and vision—staying flexible while protecting the core experience.

  5. Zero-Bug Zone: I stress-tested every system to ensure rock-solid performance with no restarts or hiccups.

Reflection

Participating in the development and public release of Elysian Heights was a pivotal chapter in my journey—a blend of technical growth and real-world lessons. As I dove into coding and system design, I found a genuine passion for the craft, sparking new levels of creativity and curiosity. Working with a 30-person team pushed me to sharpen my communication and collaboration, while launching to the public tested our execution under pressure. Along the way, I learned the importance of stakeholder management, budget control, and staying aligned with the vision—skills that reshaped how I approach projects and teamwork.
